Performance

Thus Majnun, isolated from civilization, in the darkness of night, cries out to the stars from the depths of his tortured heart; but there is no response. The heavens remain silent, and the human soul freezes in the ice-cold glow of the stars. Seeing them go on their way unconcerned, he suddenly understands. They cannot show him the way out of his despair. They are blind and deaf; their glittering splendor is mute. What does human agony mean to the stars? Majnun, naked, ribs are poking through his paper-thin skin, but at the same time he is blabbering like a newborn, repeating and forgetting. Death and living can look the same, no beginning nor end, well... at least when you’re waiting. Waiting for someone, something or some kind of sign. This endless waiting is not meant for humans, this kind of waiting is only meant for trees.

Deze muzikale performance is geinspireerd door het oud Arabishe verhaal Layla en Majnun, het album van Halim El-Dahb; Crossing into the electric magnetic en onze eigen levens.

Een muzikale performance van: Jesse Snel, Bo Baar, Maxime Caux en Joost Horward

Duur: 25min
